The Fishing

The waters around Vava'u offer prime fishing grounds for blue-water sport fishing. The type of fish you're likely to snare are yellowfin and skip jack tuna, blue fin and giant trevally, mahimahi, wahoo , dogtooth tuna and of course blue and striped marlin.

An early start gives us plenty of opportunity to take in the environmental conditions and read the fish behavioral patterns. Based on this, we can either head straight out to the first of the 3 FADs (fish aggravation devices) replaced in 2008 or troll to one of the various sea mounts. If the fish still aren't biting, there's always other drop offs to explore.

After a good day, you can take one of your table fish back for dinner. Tahi Pacifika's policy is to tag and release any billfish caught unless the fish is a record weight and the angler chooses to bring it in for submission purposes.
